Why records matter
Fire officials, insurers, and landlords may ask when your exhaust system was last cleaned. Good records answer that quickly.
What a useful record includes
Documentation varies by provider and local requirements, but helpful records include:
- Date of service
- Business name and address
- Hoods, ducts, and fans cleaned
- Areas that were not accessible
- Observations such as damaged filters or fan issues
- Provider contact information
Service labels
Some jurisdictions expect a service label or certificate on the hood. Ask your local fire authority what is expected in your area.
